The Belmont Energy Committee (the EC) is a standing committee of the Town of Belmont, comprised of eleven members who are all residents of the Town, and whose appointments have been confirmed by a vote of either the Belmont Select Board or School Committee. The EC meets monthly to continue the work of the Town of advancing its climate facing agenda as adopted in the Town's Climate Action Plan (linked below).
The Energy Committee was established by the Belmont Board of Selectmen to facilitate, enable, and help the Town of Belmont and its residents, businesses, and institutions to work toward achievement of the Climate Action Plan Resolution (Article 6) adopted by Town Meeting on November 16, 2009.
It is a permanent committee that will meet until the goal of reducing the Belmont community’s carbon emissions eighty percent (80%) based on the community’s 2007 emissions, has been met and maintained.
Prepared by Sustainable Belmont, the key objectives of the Climate Action Plan are to increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions in Belmont.
